A LITTLE CLARITY

Good questions.
Thoughtful answers.

Understand what the passport is designed to do and what is available in the prototype today.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

A little clarity
goes a long way.

Something else on your mind?

Does someone need an app to read the passport?

No. The design uses a normal web link opened by an NFC tap or QR scan. A compatible phone and internet connection are needed.

Can one person have several tags?

Yes. The planned service links multiple devices to the same passport, so a wristband, bag tag and card share the same details. Each device can be revoked individually.

What if NFC stops working or an item falls off?

Scan the printed QR if it is still readable. If the whole item is lost, use a separately linked tag, clothing label or spare card. A carer can disable the missing item without affecting other items. NFC and QR on the disabled item both stop opening the passport.

Will clothing labels and patches be machine washable?

That is our development target. The final range and care instructions depend on testing the finished materials, printed QR and any NFC chip. Wash temperature, drying and ironing limits will be stated for each product before sale.

How will a carer receive a request?

Plus is planned to alert configured contacts, who can open the mobile-friendly website and accept a request. Browser notifications depend on permissions, connectivity and device support. Supported iPhone web push requires Home Screen installation. Response and delivery are not guaranteed.

Does it track location or record calls?

No GPS tracking is included in the launch scope, and conversations will not be recorded or transcribed. Opening a passport link is not proof of the person’s location or a physical tag scan.

Who can see the information?

Anyone with the public passport link can read its published details. The person or authorised manager chooses those details. School sponsorship and access permissions are separate.

Is it an emergency service?

No. Support Passport is intended to share helpful information and connect people with their nominated support circle. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

Can we use it today?

You can explore the interactive prototype now using fictional profiles. The live service, hardware orders, subscriptions and school pilots are not open yet.
